GEORGE ARODRIGUEZ

George A. Rodriguez is a native of San Antonio, Texas and a graduate of St. Mary’s University of Texas.  He is married and the proud father of two daughters.  He resides in Leawood, Kansas.

George A. Rodriguez began his law enforcement career in 1965 as a San Antonio Police Officer.  After graduating from St. Mary’s in 1970, Rodriguez began his Federal law enforcement career as an ATF Special Agent in San Antonio.  Six years later, he was first promoted and transferred to Dallas, then Brownsville, and ultimately Washington, DC.

In the District of Columbia, he served as Program Manager for ATF’s International Traffic in Arms program.  He opened Attaché offices in Mexico City and Bogota, Colombia. In 1983, he authored ATF’s Firearms Enforcement program, focusing on armed career criminals, which is still being emphasized today throughout the United States.

In 1986, he was promoted as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge for ATF’s field division in Washington, DC.  In 1989, he was again promoted as the Special Agent in Charge for the Kansas City field division.  As the Special Agent in Charge, he was responsible for all ATF operations in the states of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska.  Cases of note during this tenure were the KC Firefighters bombing case and the Lundgren Cult murders.

In 1991, he was again transferred as a Federal Senior Executive to head up ATF’s field operations for Southern California and Arizona. He was the ATF Incident Commander during the LA Riots.

In 1995, he was detailed as one of four ATF Incident Commanders for the Oklahoma City bombing investigation. In 1996, he was promoted by then ATF Director John Magaw to the position of Deputy Associate Director for all ATF field operations.

In 1997, he retired from ATF to take the position of Security Director for Yellow Corporation of Overland Park, Kansas, a Fortune 500 transportation company.  At Yellow, he restructured the security department where it is now recognized not only as an industry leader but one of the leading security departments in the United States. His focus at Yellow was crisis management and security automation projects saving the company considerable costs.

In May of 2002, now TSA Undersecretary John Magaw appointed Rodriguez as the TSA Director of Cargo Security for the United States. He was responsible for designing security programs for all cargo moving through the maritime, rail, trucking and pipeline industries.

In May of 2003, he was hired to manage Public/Private Strategy Consultants Kansas City office.  In January of 2004, he was selected as Vice President of GVI Samsung, Enterprise Group, an American company with exclusive distribution rights of Samsung and other security products.  At this time, he founded Applied Security Innovations to meet the growing industry need to conduct reasonable security, threat, and vulnerability assessments by experienced security professionals.
